Learn to hide notifications for an assignment using SpeedGrader.
Notes: Hiding, (previously muting) an assignment allows teachers to grade and comment on assignments without immediately notifying students. When an assignment is hidden, students will not receive any notifications regarding changes to their grade or score, curve of an assignment, or submission comments.
Once a teacher is finished grading and ready for students to receive notifications, they can unhide the assignment.

- Select Courses on the left hand side in global navigation, then select All Courses.
- If you're an admin, make sure you have selected the correct school
and course within that school.
- Select the course you want to work in. Then, select the grades tab in the course navigation.
- Select the kebab (three vertical dots) for the assignment you want to grade.
- Select Grade Posting Policy from the drop down menu.
- Select Manually from the pop up menu. Then, select Save.
NOTE: Your assignment title will now indicate manual.
Select Grade Posting Policy from the drop down menu and Post when you are ready for students to receive notifications for the assignment.
How-To Guide: Hide Using SpeedGrader
- Select Courses on the left hand side in global navigation, then select All Courses.
- If you're an admin, make sure you have selected the correct school
and course within that school.
- Select the course you want to work in. Then, select the assignments tab in the course navigation.
- Select the assignment whose feedback you would like to hide from student view.
- Select the SpeedGrader Button.
- Select the eye icon. Then, select Hide Grades from the drop down menu.
- Select Hide from the pop out window to confirm.
NOTE: A crossed out eye icon will appear beside the assignment name to indicate that the assignment is hidden. You can now grade your students' assignments and add comments without them being visible to students.
- To unhide, select the eye icon and select post.
