Understand the data points and limitations of the Canvas New Analytics tool.
Notes: New Analytics must be enabled at an Admin and course level. This tool is used to show various data points within Canvas. At this time, due to our LTI course delivery, there is limited data that renders as intended. Read below to better understand the limitations of each data point within New Analytics.

How to Guide: Accessing New Analytics
- Select Courses on the left hand side in global navigation, then select All Courses.
- If you're an admin, make sure you have selected the correct school
and course within that school.
- Select a course to work in.
- Select New Analytics from the course navigation.
How to Guide: New Analytics Course Grade Data
- Select the Course Grade tab.
- Drag the bar to move through assignments. If you have due dates assigned, you will see them shown in order of due dates.
- Select a dot to open data for that assignment. You can message students about this assignment by selecting the envelope icon.

How to Guide: New Analytics Weekly Online Activity Data
- Select the Weekly Online Activity tab.
- You can download page view data or email students using the icons in the upper righthand corner.
*Functionality Notes for This Feature:This data is limited to page view data and students on pages. Participation is not tracked for assignments not created natively in Canvas (EX: workbooks, assessments, checkpoints, practice)
How to Guide: New Analytics Students Data
- Select the Students tab.
- View Student grades, date of last page view, and total page views.
- Download data or email students using the icons in the upper righthand corner.
*Functionality Notes for This Feature: This data does not accurately portray % on time or participations for non-native Canvas assignments.
How-To Guide: New Analytics Online Attendance
- Select Online Attendance.
- View Days not met. You can adjust the days you would like to track or exclude tracking using the gear icon.
- Filter the week shown, and the students and/or sections you are viewing.
*Functionality Notes for This Feature: This tool should only be configured to track course access. Please be aware that Canvas notes a 24-48 hour delay on this data generation.
