Approving Attendance as a Guardian

  • Updated

Learn how to approve attendance in StrongMind Central if you are a K-12 Primavera guardian.

Notes: The state requires attendance to be submitted daily. Student attendance is auto determined to meet state time requirements. You can adjust your student's minutes to represent time spent in courses each day. Once your student submits minutes, you can approve them. Guardians must approve attendance daily for students in grades 6-12 and every two days for students in grades K-5 or students will be locked out of their courses until you have done so.

Updates now allow for the approval of multiple students at once.

Students who are 18+ and designated as an adult in the PowerSchool and SMC systems will approve their own attendance.

How-To Guide

  • Log into StrongMind Central with your username and password, or with your magic link.

  • On your home page, you’ll see any unapproved attendance that needs your attention.
    • If there are multiple days that are unapproved, it will show those for the week, otherwise it will just show one day.

    • Like the student, the guardian has the option to edit attendance for the student before approving.

  • In the box, you’ll see a breakdown of minutes by day. Review these minutes carefully. Select Approve if your student's minutes look good. This will approve any and all unapproved attendance for the student for that week.

  • Select Edit to adjust the minutes on behalf of your student.

Note: Be sure to approve attendance every day. If no attendance is submitted for 1 day (6-12) or 2 days (K-5), your student will be temporarily locked out of their courses. Once you approve, their access will be restored.

Understanding Attendance Alerts for Expected Hours

NOTE: If a student enters zero for hours spent or time listed exceeds the maximum allowed time, an alert will populate. There is an “i” icon that helps explain what counts as expected hours.

  • 🔴 Red – Appears when the student or guardian tries to submit more than the maximum allowed time for a single day (limit set by the school). The Submit button becomes disabled until the issue is resolved.

  • 🟡 Yellow – Appears when the student submits 0 minutes for a class. This is allowed, and the system will still accept the submission.

  • Once edited and submitted, you will see a trophy screen indicating a successful submission. You are all set!
