Submitting Attendance in StrongMind Central for K-12 Students

  • Updated

Learn how to submit attendance in StrongMind Central if you are a Primavera or Valor student.

Notes: The state requires attendance to be submitted daily for A student that is enrolled in one or more courses. Your attendance is auto determined to meet state time requirements. You can adjust your minutes to represent time spent in your course each day, or let the system submit your minutes to your guardian for you. Once your minutes have been submitted, guardians can approve them. Guardians must approve attendance at least every two days or you will be locked out of your course until they have done so.

How-To Guide: Accessing and Editing Attendance Time

  • Log into StrongMind Central with your username and password, or with your magic link.

Note: When the student logs on to the dashboard at the start of the day, unsubmitted attendance is displayed.  This may be for a single day or, as is often the case at the end of a weekend, it may be for multiple days.

The unsubmitted attendance is displayed for each day.

  • Look at the time shown in the attendance box on your home page. If the time matches the minutes you spent learning, no action is needed.

  • Select Dismiss if all looks as it should.

  • Select Edit to modify minutes. You can edit any day that has not yet been approved by their guardian. If no changes are needed, no further action is required and you can move on to coursework. A confirmation “trophy” will display to let you know they have successfully logged your minutes.

  • Select the down carrot to open up edits for a certain day. Move the time up or down to match the minutes you actually spent in class.

  • Once your attendance looks correct continue with your coursework as usual.

  • Your attendance is automatically submitted for approval after your first login.

  • Select Attendance in the navigation menu if you need to edit your minutes later in the day.

  • Your guardian will be notified via their portal that minutes are submitted and ready for approval.

Understanding Attendance Alerts for Expected Hours

NOTE: If a student enters zero for hours spent or time listed exceeds the maximum allowed time, an alert will populate. There is an “i” icon that helps explain what counts as expected hours.

  • 🔴 Red – Appears when the student or guardian tries to submit more than the maximum allowed time for a single day (limit set by the school). The Submit button becomes disabled until the issue is resolved.

  • 🟡 Yellow – Appears when the student submits 0 minutes for a class. This is allowed, and the system will still accept the submission.

How-To Guide: What to do When You Are Locked Out Due to UnApproved Attendance

Note: Guardians must Approve your submitted minutes daily to avoid a lockout. If attendance isn’t submitted for two days, your classes will lock. Don’t worry—you’ll see a message letting your know you are locked out when you log into StrongMind Central.

  • Select the reminder button to nudge your parent or guardian to log in and submit your minutes. Once they submit, you will be ready to get back to work.
