SIS Integrated Rollover Update

  • Updated

Understand the requirements of the Instructure (Canvas) Rollover for May 2024, and how to complete associated tasks.

Important Notes: Every summer, schools need to change their SIS data from one year’s roster to the next year’s data (i.e. 2023-2024 to 2024-2025). Making this rollover change while Canvas’ daily syncs are running is problematic. Without pausing your imports and doing a year-end rollover, old school year syncs will continue to run in tandem with your new school year data and can create a number of issues, including deleting or duplicating content inside Canvas. To prevent this, the Canvas SIS sync must be paused while you perform your rollover with your SIS.  Once you have finished that process, we will resume syncing with your SIS data.

Canvas Recommends performing your rollover and resuming your sync two weeks prior to teachers coming back to school so that you have time to test and validate your data.

Please update your SIS Rollover dates in Canvas by May 20th. If you do not update your dates by May 20th, Instructure will post an Announcement (viewable by Admins only) as a reminder in your Canvas Instance. If you do not fill out your dates by June 7th, they will pause your data sync from your SIS to Canvas on that day. This pause will not impact grade postings from Canvas to your SIS.
