Objective: To notify users of important events and actions across Stongmind Central. These notifications will encourage users to access their communities, promoting engagement in the school community.
The Notification Bell
- Scroll to the left of the user's profile avatar. The notification bell, will highlight with a red circle when new notifications are present.
Initial notifications include:
- Posts from communities and groups
- Community post reactions to individual posts
- Invitations from communities
- When users request to join or leave a group (if you are the moderator)
- AI moderated posts that do not meet guidelines
- Session Acceptance
- Aggregated Notifications
The Notification Page
- Scroll to the far right corner of the top navigation and select the bell icon.
- Select the bell button from the dropdown to the right of "Mark all as read".
Note: Users now have a full page where they can see all of their notifications from all time along with their unread notifications.
- Notifications are in descending order, from newest to oldest.
- On the All page, if a notification is unread, it will be bolded.
- The Unread tab shows all notifications that are still unread.
- The Unread notifications are in descending order, from newest to oldest.
- Once a notification is selected from the Unread tab, it will come off that tab and the notification will then only remain on the All tab.
Notification Features
The initial release of notifications will support increased engagement. Features include:
- Users will select each notification to view and clear it from the menu.
- Reactions will appear as 1 notification per action taken.
- Community post notifications will render for everyone that is a part of the community, except the user that made the post.
AI Moderated Posts
StrongMind Intelligence moderates posts to ensure users are meeting community guidelines. If a community member posts against community guidelines by using inappropriate language or self-harm, both the user and moderator will be notified.
- Rejected post notifications are sent to the original poster and the moderator(s) of the group outlining why the post was rejected.
- NOTE: The moderator will see the content of the post, but no other community member will be able to see the post.
Session and Event Acceptance
- When a user accepts a session invite, the host will receive a notification stating who accepted.
- The host will be able to click on the notification and be taken to the session details page for more context.
Aggregated Notifications
- Notifications for Session Acceptance, Community Posts, Community Post Comments, Community Post Reaction and Community Join Requests will be aggregated.
- The first notification will have the user’s name.
- Example: “Jameson has accepted Addition Practice”.
- Subsequent notifications for that same event/session, posting or reaction will create a number next to the initial person’s name.
- Example: “Jameson and 3 others have accepted Addition Practice”.
- Notifications for the same thing will continue to aggregate in this way until the notification is clicked on or acknowledged.
- Any new notifications that come in after the initial one is clicked on or marked as read will start the process over again.
