Objective: Learn to edit your notifications. 

Notes: A user can add different contact options to their profile (i.e., cell phone, email, etc). 

Account-level notifications apply to all courses. Notifications for individual courses can be changed within each course and will override these notifications.

Daily notifications will be delivered around 6pm. Weekly notifications will be delivered Saturday between 7am and 9am.

How-To Guide

• To get started, select the Account link in the Global Navigation menu 
  • Select Settings link.

• To add an email, select the Add Email Address link.

• Enter your email address in the field and select the Register Email button.
  • After your email has been registered, you will receive a confirmation email. To complete registration, click the link provided in the email.

• To add a cell phone, select the Contact Method link.

• Enter your cell phone number, carrier, and email in the correct fields. 
  • Select the Register SMS button.
  • Note: You will need to have your phone ready to provide a code for confirmation. Select Confirm after inserting the code. 

• To manage notifications for all your courses, select the Notifications link in the User Navigation menu. 
  • Note: You can also access your notifications from anywhere in Canvas by selecting the Account link and selecting the Notifications link.

• Select the account you want to edit the notifications for.
  • Note: Selecting Account apply to all courses.

• Notification settings are divided into sections including: Course Activities, Discussions, Conversations, Scheduling, Groups, Conferences, and Alerts. Each section includes notification categories.
• Note: You can view what triggers each notification by hovering your cursor over the category.
  • Select the icons in each contact column to edit the frequency of your notification for the corresponding category.
