Set Custom Placement For an Individual Student

Learn to set custom placement for students

Notes: This feature is specific to users on StrongMind's Instance of Canvas only.

When utilizing the StrongMind Custom Placement LTI, or excusing students from content within units, it is a recommended best practice that schools excuse graded assignments like Checkpoints, but content delivery activities like Direct Instruction and Workbooks, be left as “view the item”. StrongMind Unit Exams are not presently editable and are created using Backward Design - beginning with the end by first identifying the desired outcomes, goals or learning objectives for a course, then creating appropriate assessments based on the desired learning outcomes. Finally our designers cultivate activities that promote those learning outcomes. This means that students should be at least exposed to all content, to ensure mastery, to meet state standards, and to ensure content being tested aligns with content learned. If you choose to exempt students entirely from direct instruction content, it is possible to create alternative assessments that match content learned. To learn how to create alternate assessments in Canvas, access StrongMind Support.
